it’s fleeting- we’ve always known that. It proceeds bitter cold and monochrome skies. It’s beautiful- colorful, crisp, and it’s dying. Doing normal things invites reflection. And now in autumn, I reflect on my friends, Valerie and Zoe. I met them in autumn and that’s all I knew them for. We lost Val in October 2021. Zoe was there and we got through it together. In September of last year, I lost Zoe too. like friends who die too young, before you really get to know them, the season changes and you weather it. Take time this fall, however fleeting, to feel everything, take it all in, honor it for what it is, and know that It will pass.
