I get another chance next Sunday for an even bigger and better costume at the DC Dia de Los Muertos Celebration. I already ordered my new make up and will get to work on my hat this week.

I just got back from the parade. It was AMAZING!! So many people! Much more than last year! I think people REALLY NEEDED a fun day. I was the only Catrina. I was talking to one of the costume judges, trying to explain to her why it was important for me to celebrate as my hometown people cannot due to ICE, and we jokingly asked if there was an award for most unique costume, as I was the only Catrina. But, a white blonde lady simply barged in, interrupting me. I let her know I did not appreciate her rudeness and she cannot always be first.

OMG!!! This is SO HELPFUL! I’m walking in a neighborhood parade today. Though there are many Latinos in the neighborhood, many will be unable to attend due to ICE abuses. I will likely be the only Catrina. This will help me make my costume more exciting.
