not my responsibility 🖤

@balenciaga @pppiccioli thank you so much for having us at your beautiful show 🤍 congratulations!!!

another round of 💥ULTRRAAA💥💥

Such a crazy feeling wanting to give you the whole world and we haven’t t even met you yet 🩵🪽

Yesterday I was so dang overwhelmed. Four kids needing me and going in every different direction… when we pulled into our driveway, I just sat in my car for a moment trying to breathe before I lost my patience🤪

Henley asked what I was doing… then basically told me to go take a break 😂

And my immediate response was, “How would that make you feel if I went to my room?”

Because mom did that. She’d shut herself in her room, but it wasn’t just a few minutes to collect herself. It was full days. Sometimes several days at a time. I remember feeling so alone & begging her to come out.

Somewhere along the way, I made this rule for myself as a mommy: if I’m ALWAYS available, my kids will never wonder if I love them.🙏

But girl… being available every second isn’t even realistic. And trying to do it was leaving me with no patience for the kids I was trying so hard to be there for.🤦🏼‍♀️

Then here’s my 9 year old telling me it’s okay to have some alone time 😂💛

She’s not responsible for taking care of me or making me feel better. But her answer helped me realize I was connecting two very different things…

Taking a short break, with my kids safely cared for, is NOT the same as shutting them out for days.

Whew… childhood trauma really does show up in parenting in ways you don’t even realize sometimes.😅

I wish my mom had had more support and tools for what she was carrying. I really believe things could’ve been different if she had support. I know she tried her best and for that I’m thankful.🙏 I can’t rewrite her story, but I’m trying to do things differently in mine & I like to think she’s proud of me for it💛

….if you’re the mom who feels guilty needing a break too…

You don’t have to prove how much you love your kids by pushing yourself past your limit.

You can love them endlessly AND need ten minutes where nobody needs you.

“I love you. I need a few minutes. I’ll be back.”

I’m learning that I can take a moment for myself and still be the mommy who comes back. Who listens. Who loves them so dang much.

I needed this reminder so figured I’d share. Send this to the mama who
