Drake faces a lawsuit over “Janice STFU.” Songwriter Aviel Calev Hirschfield alleges its chorus is “literally identical” to his 2026 demo.

He says he sent the hook to producers FNZ before “Iceman” dropped. “Fifteen seconds in, Avi was stunned to hear Drake perform word-for-word, note-for-note, beat-by-beat, the exact same chorus that he (Avi) had recorded and sent,” the lawsuit alleges.

His demo reads: “Reach me, baby/ Call my phone and say you need me, baby/ I’m so green, you gotta teach me, baby/ From Vancouver, you a BC, baby/ Pull up Maybach, beep beep, baby/ And my shit came with the heat seats, baby/ Swear my label gotta free me, baby/ Blow on me just like some green tea, baby.”

Drake’s attorneys allegedly “shamelessly refuse to acknowledge Avi’s authorship,” despite receiving his audio files and metadata.

“Drake and/or his representatives are instead taking the absurd position that Avi — a massive fan of Drake who has co-written a hit song with him in the past and has aspirations of working with him in the future — has manipulated the metadata in his recording files to make it appear (falsely) that the copyrighted work preceded ‘Janice STFU,’” reads the complaint. “Such a deception would constitute career suicide by Avi.”

Hirschfield co-wrote Beyoncé’s “Heated” with Drake. He is suing Drake, OVO Sound and Universal Music Group, alleging they “robbed Avi of the reputational benefits and substantial compensation he deserves for his contribution to Drake’s biggest hit in many years.”

He wants credit and royalties. Drake’s representative declined comment.

To My Day Ones ❤️

It was somewhere in 2023… I stood in an arena surrounded by a sea of happy hearts. Those years spent on the road, touring back-to-back, are memories I’m ever so grateful for. You truly gave a boy from Punjab everything he ever dreamed of.

But right after that, life took me on an unforeseen detour. Behind closed doors, I single-handedly fought multiple battles I chose to keep private. I stepped away with the intention to rebuild myself and in the process, I discovered a side to myself I never knew existed. Let’s just say some storms are meant to be survived in silence.

A new beautiful chapter emerged in 2025 ushering my independent foray. God provided far more than I ever prayed for. Together, we smashed it out of the park with QATAL SIRRA, AZUL, PERFECT, PAN INDIA, SHKINI and DOPAMINE. Even when targeted campaigns tried to cast shadows over the 2026 slate, I stayed respectful and trusted the process because when you build on solid ground, success speaks for itself.

Still, I felt a void - the magic of singing these songs right back to you in person. I read every single message asking “when?” There were many offers on the table, but the visions just didn’t align. I couldn’t bring myself to give you something run-of-the-mill; it had to be a masterpiece.

This homecoming has been built entirely from scratch, out of nothing but love and late nights and I can’t wait for you to experience it. I’m going to give you my absolute everything that night. Thank you for standing by me through it all.

Your boy is coming home. See you at the stadiums.
