QOTD: What’s one mistake you’ve made in your author or social media journey? I’d love to hear how you overcame it!
An indie author’s journey has many challenges, and I’ve made several mistakes along the way:
1️⃣ Not promoting my book: I published my first book (in Spanish) in August 2022 but didn’t promote it until September 2023. As an introvert, it took time to embrace my identity as an author and reach out to fellow bookworms!
2️⃣ Using follow trains: I hosted several follow trains, engaging obsessively. While I met lovely people like @i.am.reading.again , most didn’t interact with my content.
3️⃣ Supporting based on engagement: I supported everyone who engaged with my posts, regardless of their interests, which cluttered my feed with content I didn’t care about.
4️⃣ Never introducing myself: I missed opportunities to build relationships and boost sales because I didn’t know how to introduce myself. I shared a reel on this topic if you’re interested!
5️⃣ Ignoring the algorithm: I created content I loved but didn’t understand how the algorithm worked, resulting in low reach. I’m still learning and happy to share tips!
