It’s my honor to introduce you to our second annual Book of the Year nominees! A huge congratulations to this group 🎉🎉

Both years of BOTY have been so hard on the backend for me because the group I have to choose from is filled with incredible books & authors. I don’t take placement lightly & I even had some vetting team members give me their choices because I struggled so much with choosing. Placement is harder than it seems when the pool is filled with incredible choices.

To me, book of the year is a combination of things. They’re books that make readers feel the feels - whatever those feels might be! It could be a book that made readers feel seen, empowered, cozy, joyful, suspenseful, contemplative and everything in between. I think this group of books shows a range of those feels & stories.

BOTY is voted on only by a panel that has already been put together. But that doesn’t mean you can’t support these authors! You will see each of these books in additional categories (not to spoil 👀) so you can check them out, support on socials, leave a review & maybe even vote for them this fall!

We still have 155 nominated books to roll out this week! And over the next few weeks, you’ll see our online library be built & learn more about nominees. You will also start to see more fun things like group sales, guest blog posts & more!

It’s weird that we’re almost to voting because I feel like we just voted for last years awards!

Voting will be live between November 13-15! I will be providing a full guide ahead of time about how it’ll work. If you’ve voted with us in the past - it should pretty much remain the same!

Ugh. Our first post was labeled as AI content so it’s time to do a reminder about where we stand on the use of generative AI.

Simply put: we hate it.

I will never knowingly use gen AI in any of my content. I use background remover often (which is what I’m guessing flagged this one post) but never gen AI.

Being a creative is one of my favorite things. It has led me to this community, meeting so many likeminded creatives who are obsessed at seeing what they can create with their minds, hands, and imagination. It’s so powerful and inspiring to see what humans can do on their own. Celebrating human creativity is simply the best.

Navigating this world where AI is becoming more popular is exhausting. I hate that we even have to deal with it. But I want to remind you that we have always celebrated humans here & we are trying to navigate the ever changing world with more gen AI in it just like the rest of us 💜 by @indieverseawards
