2027: Anyone Seeking To Lead Nigeria Should Be Prepared To Explain What Their Promises Will Cost And Whether They Can Sustain Them— President Tinubu Tells Aspirants

President Bola Tinubu has challenged those seeking to lead Nigeria to explain the cost of their campaign promises, how they intend to fulfil them and whether they can sustain them financially.

Tinubu said government commitments must be backed by credible plans and sustainable funding to prevent Nigerians and future generations from bearing the financial burden of promises that cannot be fulfilled.

The President stated this in a post on his X platform on Sunday, stressing that leaders must balance providing immediate relief to citizens with protecting the future of the country’s children.

“As President, I have a duty to provide relief today without compromising our children’s future.

“Every commitment must be sustainable and backed by a credible plan. That responsibility guides our decisions, including the difficult ones,” he said.

Tinubu urged anyone seeking to lead the country to be prepared to explain the financial implications of their promises and how they intend to deliver on them.

“Anyone seeking to lead Nigeria should be prepared to explain what their promises will cost, how they will deliver them, and whether they can sustain them.

“Promises are easy to make when the costs can be postponed, leaving Nigerians and future generations to pay the bill,” he added.

He further stressed the need to expand access to affordable transportation across the country, saying the Federal Government would collaborate with state governments to make it accessible to more communities.

“Our responsibility is to keep expanding access until affordable transportation becomes a reality for more communities across our country.

“That is the work we will continue in collaboration with the States,” he added.

A 15-year-old Florida girl has been arrested after allegedly using artificial intelligence to frame her ex-boyfriend for threatening a school shooting at Riverview High School, just outside Tampa.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, school administrators received an email on October 14 containing a screenshot of an Instagram post threatening a mass shooting. The post appeared to have been made by a male student attending the school, prompting administrators to contact law enforcement.

However, after interviewing the male student, detectives determined he had nothing to do with the threatening post. Investigators traced the fabricated image to his 15-year-old ex-girlfriend, who previously attended Riverview High School. When questioned, the teenager reportedly admitted to sending the email and knowing the screenshot had been altered using AI.

The teenager was arrested and charged with making a written or electronic threat to conduct a mass shooting or act of terrorism, unlawful use of a two-way communications device, and disrupting school operations. Authorities have not publicly disclosed what motivated her alleged attempt to frame her ex-boyfriend.
