U.S. President Donald J. Trump has officially endorsed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the work up to Israel’s elections later this month. President Trump lauded Prime Minister Netanyahu for his support of U.S. operations against both the Houthis and Iran (“big Satan and little Satan”) in the past, ending his statement with a full endorsement of the embattled Israeli prime minister.
Rihanna’s “Cockiness (Love It)” is built around one of the strangest, most instantly recognisable samples in her catalogue. Produced by Bangladesh, the track flips a snippet of Greg Kinnear performing “Summertime” in the 2003 comedy Stuck on You, turning an unexpected vocal moment into the foundation for a provocative, off-kilter dancehall and dubstep hybrid. Rather than smoothing out the sample, the production lets its unusual character sit right in the middle of the beat. Released on Talk That Talk in 2011, “Cockiness (Love It)” shows Rihanna leaning into a more experimental, sexually assertive side of her pop persona. Bangladesh built the instrumental by chopping up samples he had been collecting, then developed the track around the repeated “I love it” hook. The result is abrasive, hypnotic and deliberately unconventional, a reminder of how adventurous mainstream pop production could get during Rihanna’s early-2010s run. #Rihanna #Cockiness #TalkThatTalk #MusicSampling #PopMusic
Miley Cyrus grew emotional while honoring her late godmother, Dolly Parton, at the Hollywood Bowl. During her October 16 concert, Miley Cyrus reflected on their bond and recalled seeing Dolly Parton perform at the same venue. “Me and Dolly, we are eternal,” she told the crowd before performing “Jolene.” Miley Cyrus also said she continues to feel Dolly Parton’s presence following her death in August.
