Got to learn BJJ techniques from @elinwallman, a BJJ brown belt and ADCC Swedish Open gold medalist🥋💪🏼 BJJ is like human chess and I’m still learning what the pieces do xd Been training for three weeks and it’s so cool to see how strength transfers to different sports. I love being a beginner and learning from such talented people 🙏🏼🌟 Thank you! #bjj #brazilianjiujitsu #mma #strongwoman

A few things we need to establish here. 1. If you use the “Ackland study” to try and “prove” you can bias divisions of the lats I’ll punt you because we have a study that did their own tendon excursions and then did EMG looking at leverage vs activation and found ZERO correlation. Meaning, they did their own internal moment arm measurements and then looked at lat activation during extension and adduction and there was no relationship between internal leverage and activation. 2. IF you say “you can bias you just can’t isolate” I’ll punt you. You can’t “isolate” anything. No one said shit about isolating. We do know that regional hypertrophy exists and see it in lots of studies. This can happen due to load at the proximal or distal joint or even the resistance profile. But the effects are going to be small. Biasing a whole DIVISION is something different all together. 3. You can bias different division of the pecs because they have different component functions. The upper pecs = flexors costal pecs = extensors anterior delt = flexors lateral delt = abduction rear delt = extensors and horizontal abduction upper and lower glutes = upper does extension, abduction and external rotation lower only does hip extension OR they have completely different origins and insertions - internal and external tibial rotation = biasing different heads of the gastroc same for hamstrings with the long and short head vs semi’s The WHOLE LAT does the SAME THING. Yes it has different origins however there’s no division of the lat that does something different than the other divisions do. The whole lat does - adduction extension assists in internal rotation and lateral flexion You wanna know how to build big lats???? Do pulldowns, chin ups, pull ups, and lat based rows Use different grips for variation to break up monotony.
