Slavic old money: There was a time when women stepped into the snow in floor-length sable, silk scarves wrapped around their hair, leather gloves pulled tight and inherited diamonds worn beneath enormous fur collars. The men followed in charcoal cashmere and heavy wool overcoats, their cars already warming outside.

Winter had its own rituals. Afternoons disappeared beneath gray skies and falling snow. Cigarettes were smoked on frozen balconies. Evenings meant black tie, velvet gowns and fur thrown over bare shoulders before stepping back into the cold. Chauffeurs waited outside while conversations continued beneath glowing entrance lights.

Beyond the city were the estates.

Before sunrise, old hunting coats came out of wardrobes. Leather boots were pulled on beside the fire. Cars were loaded in the snow while horses waited near the stables and smoke rose from chimneys above the trees.

Nothing needed to look new.

The fur had been worn before. The jewelry had belonged to someone else. The silver came out for the same dinners. The house had survived other winters. Even the rituals seemed inherited, the same families returning to the same places, wearing the same things their parents had worn before them.

That was the distinction.

The wealth was visible everywhere, but almost none of it felt recently acquired.

Slavic old money was never about escaping winter. It was about looking as though your family had belonged to it for generations.

I’m tired of being creative with lunches & then food coming back home. Trying a set menu for the week. Let’s see how it goes.

Tim Hawkins’ Fall 2026 tour has been postponed due to a private health matter. This was a difficult but necessary decision, and we ask that you please respect Tim and his family’s privacy at this time.

All Fall 2026 shows are in process of being rescheduled for Spring 2027. If you have a ticket, there is nothing you need to do now. Ticket holders will be notified by email when your specific date has been fully rescheduled.

Thank you for your prayers, support, and understanding.
