A tub of sudsy water has Sandra’s attention! Today is Global Handwashing Day, and she’s giving us a wonderful opportunity to talk about orangutan behavior. Did you know wild orangutans have been observed using leaves to wipe dirt from their bodies and sticky fruit residue from their faces? They also splash, scoop water over themselves, and engage in water play. Cleaning themselves and exploring water are both part of their behavioral repertoire. Here at the sanctuary, tubs of water, sprinklers, and non-toxic bubble bath offer opportunities for sensory exploration and play. Some orangutans splash, others investigate the bubbles, and some, like Sandra, spend time “washing.” While those movements look familiar to us, we can’t assume Sandra has the same understanding of handwashing and germs that we do. Water activities give her something interesting to explore, with the choice of how, and whether, to participate. A simple tub, plenty of bubbles, and an opportunity to do things her own way. 🫧🦧

It didn’t matter who I was competing against, I knew as soon as I turned around it was a wrap for the competition!
In honor of the "Girls" reboot, we’re taking a little trip back to Brooklyn circa 2012. We went into the archives to revisit the first "Girls" interview and shoot, one of @ChloeMalle’s first-ever articles for Vogue. She met the quartet at Allswell in Williamsburg, back in the day when all hipster restaurants had twee toile wallpaper. Tap the link in our bio to red the conversation with a 25-year-old @LenaDunham about the world of Girls. Photographed by Norman Jean Roy. Vogue, March 2012.

Desperately wanted to share for a while! But we had to do a bit of painting and add the lights before I could share! It’s been quite the makeover from a boxy room to opening it all to create this split level bedroom with en-suite below and although not finished you can really see how the room looks now. From those first drawings to this it looks so similar! We had the mdf stairs made originally so it was safe, it’s quite a tight space but I wanted it to give the appearance of being bigger with the larger bullnose at the bottom and to add some curves in some way. A huge thank you to @firststepdesigns who completely got my vision and made the oak veneer steps, created extra storage for me and created those curves with that beautiful oak balustrade. They made it from a plain staircase into something wow! We just had to do a little painting and add some lights (they created the recesses for us) I’ll be starting on the headboard this weekend as we have our new bed ready (we are gutted our bed in our current home is too big to fit in here) and the wardrobes are ordered and hopefully will be fitted before Christmas It’s a long one sorry but we’ve done so much I couldn’t not share the process! Hope you like ❤️❤️❤️ .
