Hello spooky season! 🖤🕸️🔮 let the halloween fun begin! 👻🎃 @rebelathleticgirls

My grandma Jan passed away in August. She was a wonderful and creative lady and we knew about her "toad hobby" from a long time ago, but we didn't realize the full extent of it until recently.

If you're anything like me and my family, you're probably watching this thinking

1. WTF is this.
2. This is amazing.

So here are some answers to a few common questions from friends we've shown these toad pics to already:

- why? She was a very creative and whimsical lady. Her kids (my dad included) played with toads in their backyard and she took inspiration from their antics.
- no toads were harmed. She loved the toads and would capture them on their property in South Carolina, dress them up and take pics, and release them within 24 hours. Some of the early toad pics were taken in Thailand or Indonesia, where she and her family lived for a few years in the 70s.
- we don't know if she made all of the costumes and set pieces by hand but it seems like most of them were custom. Others likely came from doll sets.
- yes there are hundreds if not thousands of toad pics that we will be digitizing and posting here over time.
- is this AI? Absolutely not lol

Follow along for more toad content. There's a lot more of the story to come! In honor of Jan ❤️

Can you guess our costume?💜💚🩷
