Dug my violin up after about 9 years of not playing or touching it at all. I use to resent playing and practicing violin when I was younger… I loved the violin, I just hated the pressure that came with it. Anyways after pulling it out of the back of the closet, I replaced the strings, tuned up, and got a brand new bow. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t feel a little bit silly playing and plucking strings like a child but that is what it is and that’s ok because I’m learning it again! It’s going to be a little tricky at first but I’ve already made so much progress. Muscle memory is kind of crazy like that.
Plus, I have theeee sweetest kitty in the world to keep my company as I reteach myself. Even though… sometimes I feel like he’s totally judging me for being off tune and missing my tapes lol. But he just plops down and doesn’t move so I have to believe he enjoys it a bit at least!
This vid is just me chillin and messing around and trying to pluck what I remember of Viva La Vida (banger). But actually playing (bow & all) again has been so much fun for the first time since I was younger and it’s nice because the pressure to perform for an audience is gone so now I’m just able to truly enjoy myself and play whatever tf I want! I still remember the pressure when I had to take the ABRSM and RCM exam boards and I was the most stressed a 12 year old could be lmao. But a flex nonetheless! Thanks mom! And Fremont School of Music!
I’ll probably have to get a silencer if I bring this baby back to NYC (violin, not Theo - though they both are my babies) but seeing where the wind takes me in terms of relearning first :)
