This is my second year running Chicago and both years I ran with my refillable @hydrapak SkyFlask. Last year I ran a 3:23 and have always found it easier AND faster to refill + hold my hydration throughout the race than to try and drink from paper cups at each aid station. This year I wasn’t racing to PR but instead ran for fun! The refill stations were SO FAST. Anyone aiming to PR: it’s absolutely doable and imo faster than using the paper cup refill stations! If you’ve ever seen a race course the day after a race, it’s heartbreaking how many cups and single use plastics are still littered. Having refill stations cuts down significantly on the amount of paper cups used, thrown away, and littered. I would love to see the World Major races go fully cupless and runners embrace refillable hydration flasks because we owe it to our world to reduce, reuse, and recycle to the best of our ability 🙂 I also consider it comforting to run with water throughout the race so I can sip at my leisure. It’s a personal preference bc I find it stressful to try and drink quickly at each aid station. I’ve also never mastered the art of drinking from a paper cup and most of it ends up on my face soooo carrying a refillable soft flask is the way. Consider this your sign to start practicing long runs and running your races with a refillable soft flask, either in your running vest/belt or handheld! #hydrapak #chicagomarathon #marathon #runnersofig #sustainabilty
21 years ago on this day, Daniel Craig was announced as the next 007. The backlash was immediate. Coming off Pierce Brosnan’s polished, classic-era run, Craig felt like a shock to the system - blond, rougher around the edges, and far less traditionally “suave” than what many fans expected from the next James Bond. The reactions were loud enough to become headlines, with critics dismissing him before he had even filmed a single scene and online campaigns popping up to protest the casting, convinced he didn’t look or feel like Bond. But once ‘Casino Royale’ was released in 2006, the conversation flipped almost overnight. Craig brought a colder, more physical vulnerability to 007, grounding the character in bruises, grief, and real emotional stakes. What was once seen as a risky departure from the usual archetype quickly became a reinvention, and the same casting that sparked outrage ended up defining one of the most acclaimed Bond eras in the history of the franchise. 5 films. 15 years. What a run it was.
