US immigration agents have carried out a raid on the home of Democratic Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, just weeks before the midterm elections. US media reports say investigators from Homeland Security are looking into immigration documents dating back to Omar's childhood. Omar has accused the Trump administration of targeting political opponents and vowed she will "not be silenced." #dwnews #midterms #IlhanOmar
I have felt immense sadness and immense pride especially the last few days. But this post, goes beyond that. I wanted to post about him here, because it is important now more than ever in today’s zeitgeist, to be inspired by his bravery, to act on when we think someone needs us, make ourselves slightly uncomfortable if need be, to be open to hearing other people’s opinions, to listen to different sides with grace, to let go of pettiness, to have fun with your whole heart. To rage when you need to, be gentle when you need to. To not take yourself so seriously, while also being serious when it mattered. I hope you take a minute to read up on this incredible man, what he wrote and what he read, what we think today, he was talking the talk and walking the walk year ago.
Just a gym girl in her Wh*re Shorts doing what she loves😜 Always in my @gymsharkwomen shorts… lift heavy in them. Take up space in them. Never let a man make you feel ashamed of your body or dictate what you can and can’t wear to the gym. Wear your shark shorts, and be unapologetically YOU. F* whateva sh🤡ne said. PERIOD.
Being the woman who was financially supporting her husband wasn’t exactly the conventional marriage story I imagined for myself. But I wasn’t keeping score. I wanted him to become debt-free so we could finally plan our future together without the weight of medical school loans holding us back. I thought we were building something together. I share this not because I’m ashamed of the choices I made, but because I know how easy it is to confuse being a supportive partner with carrying more than you should. You can be independent, generous, and believe in someone’s potential without sacrificing your own financial security. Love shouldn’t require you to abandon protecting yourself. And if you’ve ever looked back and wondered how you didn’t see the signs, please give yourself grace. You made decisions based on what you believed was true at the time. 🤍 This isn’t tea. It’s a conversation more of us need to have—especially as Desi women, when we’re often taught to protect the marriage before we protect ourselves. You can be a good partner and still have boundaries. You can love someone and still ask questions. Both can be true. Part 4 of Who TF Did I Marry?! 🤍 #WhoTFDidIMarry #DesiWomen #FinancialAwareness #DivorceHealing #ChoosingYourself
