I spend so much of my time documenting the beginnings of a couple’s journey, but being part of a vow renewal reminded me just how beautiful it is to witness a love that has been lived, tested, and chosen for over twenty years. Listening to @jyotika and @actorsuriya speak about choosing each other through the difficult moments, with humour, love and reverence, and continuing to show up for one another, had everyone in tears, including me. ☺️ It’s only seemed fitting to include a little throwback to the film of where they fell in love , bringing a symbolic piece of where their story began on screen into a celebration of the life they’ve built since. Like it all came a full circle 🥹 In my conversations with Jyotika, I’d heard how much the people gathered for this celebration meant to them, and the role they’d played in their journey together. To then be there, surrounded by those very people and feeling all that warmth and love, was like being wrapped in a ginormous hug. I may not have been part of their story all these years, but being entrusted with this chapter and getting a little glimpse into their life off cameras is something I’ll carry with me always. Jyotika and Suriya, thank you for trusting me with these memories, for yourselves and for everyone who has been part of your journey. And Jo, a very happy birthday to you, beautiful 🌹. Here’s a little gift from me to you. I hope this film takes you back to the people, the promises, and all the love that surrounded you that day, for years to come.
