My biggest dream was shattered – but something amazing happened instead!
I was devastated when I heard the news that Quincy Jones, my greatest idol and inspiration, had passed away. He has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. It all started when my dad played the album You’ve Got It Bad Girl for me as a child – a record that still means the world to me.
My lifelong dream was to meet Quincy, maybe even sing for him. But last December, before his passing, something incredible happened. Peter “Noos” Johansson, who knew how much I loved Quincy, reached out to me. He had listened to a live recording I did with some amazing musicians in 2016 and wanted to create a horn arrangement for it.
Peter brought together the best horn players in the country, and Mattias Bylund contributed a magical string arrangement, recorded live in Stockholm. The fact that these musicians did this for me is beyond anything I could have dreamed of. Words cannot express my gratitude.
Unfortunately, Quincy never got to hear the recording – he passed away before we could send it to him. My dream was shattered, but this project is one of the greatest things I’ve ever been a part of. Now, I want to share our version of Quincy’s masterpiece Stuff Like That with you. Turn up the volume and listen! If you like it, feel free to share it with everyone you know. A huge thanks to all the incredible musicians involved – you are amazing!
