A detour from paintings into Michelangelo’s Pietà.
Carved from a single block of Carrara marble, it’s the only work Michelangelo ever signed. His name is engraved into the sash across Mary’s chest.

According to his biographer Giorgio Vasari, Michelangelo overheard visitors crediting another sculptor. He returned at night with a light and his chisels, and carved his name into the marble.

That’s the detail I wanted this camera journey to discover: the artist’s signature among the hands, faces and folds.

Look who came to say hello in Frankfurt yesterday. @torsten_stenzel It was so great to catch up with you and talk about the good old days in Grouse Lodge Studios in 2007 among other things!!! Both Torsten and @alexscholpp were recording there my very first “My Winter Storm” album. I am so happy to have these amazing souls still with me after all these years. Do you think I should start working on a new Outlanders album with Torsten?

A follower recently asked me a rather interesting question, and I felt it deserved a public reply. Not just because it made me think, but because I wondered if the answer might resonate with someone else, too.

Why do I read about complicated relationships, infidelity and broken marriages, a subject that once hurt us must mean reopening old wounds? Human relationships are incredibly complex, and I read about all kinds of human experiences because I’m curious about people and what makes them who they are. Books allow us to explore these experiences from a safe distance and sometimes understand ourselves a little better, too.

I also don’t believe healing means avoiding everything that reminds us of what we’ve been through. For me, reading about difficult experiences offers perspective. Sometimes, it means reaching a place where we can look at something that once hurt us without allowing it to define us or take us back to that place.

Not every story that reminds us of pain has to reopen a wound. Sometimes, it simply reminds us of how much we’ve grown. 🤍
