Leisly Ann | L.A. | Award Winning Author | 🇩🇴

a very belated but exciting share -

last month I flew to LA with my mom to accept the Juan Felipe Herrera Award for Best Poetry Book - English at the International Latino Book Awards. over 200 judges voted on dozens of books, & little did I know until they called my name & category, that my little libro won the Gold Medal in the category with the most entries / awards.

thank you so much @empoweringlatinofutures for this incredibly unexpected, beautiful honor. and to @davifalegria & @alegriapublishing , thank you for helping me become a real life published author with a real life book that for over a year now, has made such an incredible impact on my life & others’. I am still not sure how or why I received this distinction, but I will hold onto it forever.

(special thank you to my sweet & silly friends in slide 6 for tuning in & cheering me on all the way from the East Coast 🥺🤍)
