I hardly know where to begin, as words can’t fully capture this moment, it was truly supernatural, something I couldn’t have orchestrated myself. I’ve been baptized before, driven by the thought that it was simply “the right thing to do.” For a long time, my relationship with God felt influenced by others. But over the past year, God has been tugging at my heart, urging me to surrender completely and make it personal. I’d argue back, “I already have,” but as I spent more time with Him, He revealed deeper truths to me.

Today, led solely by the Holy Spirit, everything changed. It was Baptism Sunday, though I didn’t know it when I arrived. The pastor preached a powerful message, and as people were being baptized, I prayed, “Lord, I’d love to be up there, do it for me right now, here where I’m standing.” Then, unexpectedly, the pastor invited anyone who hadn’t signed up to come forward, even in street clothes. My first reaction was to resist: “I just got my hair done; I’m wearing jeans and good shoes. Everyone will stare.” But as I stood there, I felt the undeniable pull of the Holy Spirit, my body went numb, hot and cold at the same time, and I began to shake. I knew I couldn’t ignore it any longer, so I surrendered and obeyed.

Driving home afterward, I turned on The Chosen and listened, and the first scene was Jesus telling Nicodemus, “Truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.” It was confirmation of what had just taken place.

Today was a supernatural encounter with God, and I encourage anyone holding back from truly surrendering their life to Him, it’s worth it. The Lord loves you, and He’s waiting for you. Surrender takes vulnerability, but it also gives you the victory of never having to walk this life alone.
