May 24, 2023, I had the honor to perform the song “Breathe” from the Tony Award-winning Original Broadway musical, In the Heights at the @possefoundation ‘s annual gala, “An Evening of Stars”! This was the first time they dedicated their gala to their new #possearts and Puerto Rico programs and I had the privilege to be the first vocal performance major in the program.
Getting to perform this piece was very heart felt for me. I had been working on this song since I was 16, during quarantine, and before I even applied for the Posse Scholarship. In addition to this opportunity, I had the privilege to meet and work with the wonderful, most kind and talented @mandy.gonzalez herself! She is not only talented but such a genuine and kind human. She was so insightful and I just want to thank her so much from the bottom of my heart for working with me on this beautiful song that really means so much to me. I cannot express enough how much of an honor it was to work with you!
I also had the immense pleasure of meeting and getting to perform this piece for none other than the man himself, @lin_manuel Miranda. I was fortunate enough to be seated with Luis Miranda @vegalteno , @drluz_ Luz Miranda, Artistic Director of @publictheaterny Oskar Eustis, members the Miranda Family Foundation, and several guests. I was also able to meet @joshuahenryofficial who performed at the gala as well and absolutely killed his set!! Such a breathtaking talent!! They were all such a delight to talk with and I am so extremely grateful to have met these people! Words can’t begin to describe how grateful I am for the Posse Foundation for this opportunity. Thank you to Deborah Bial, the President and Founder of the Posse Foundation, The Miranda Family, and Christian Vasquez, the producer who captured my meeting and rehearsals with Mandy, they all made this possible and from the bottom of my heart, I am so thankful. They all are giving generations of artists, like me, a chance to succeed. Thank you for taking that chance on me.
