Alonsa Guevara | Artist & Mentor

There are many steps to making a painting. From thinking about your idea, bringing it to a sketch, and mixing the right colors, to making the final decisions that allow your work to say what you want to say or feel the way you want it to feel.

This is a special piece for me because it is my invitation to enter into my imaginary garden—a seemingly balanced space full of abundant fruit trees that represent important memories in my life and remind me of the people I love and the places I once called home.

When people saw this painting in person at @annazorinagallery, they felt that invitation to enter this imaginary world, and that is priceless to me.

Welcome to My Garden: My Fruits, My People, My Places.
Oil on canvas, 72 x 48 inches, 2024.
