𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝𝐧’𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐢𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮, 𝐌𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐲 … 🤍🕊️

Writing this still doesn’t feel real. AT ALL. It’s been a week since you earned your heavenly wings, and NOTHING prepares you for losing a parent. If you know me, you know my mommy IS my heartbeat.

What many don’t know is that I almost didn’t compete this year because of her illness. Stupid ass cancer. But my mom wasn’t having THAT! She refused to let me put my dreams on hold. For the past 3 years, her smile every time I stepped on stage or brought home an award gave me strength I didn’t know I had.

Truthfully, I felt selfish chasing my dreams while she was fighting for her life. But I realized 𝐦𝐲 𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐬 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐬 𝐦𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐞. Every victory was OUR victory.

I’ll NEVER forget what she told me after earning 2nd at the 2025 Olympia: “𝐍𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐥𝐞𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐬𝐞𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐛𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐝 𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐧.” She knew I felt like I’d failed, but reminded me I’d ALREADY won. No title could define the victory God had placed over my life. 👏🏾🙏🏾💯

So although she won’t physically be in the crowd WHEN I fulfill that promise, my mommy secured the BEST DAMN SEAT in the house.

We may never understand God’s plan, but 𝐢𝐭’𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐭. I prayed so hard for her healing. And although it didn’t come how I’d hoped, I find peace knowing she’s no longer suffering. Her body grew tired, but her spirit NEVER did.

And if y’all thought her hat-making legacy was ending, BABYYYY, you’re SADLY mistaken! 😂 My sister and I will make sure her presence is felt at EVERY future Derby. Bigger, better, and FABULOUS as ever!

𝐌𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐲, 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈 𝐚𝐦 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐚 𝐩𝐢𝐞𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮. Every stage, every victory, every dream … you’re right there with me.

I love you forever, Mommy. 🤍🕊️

And FUCK CANCER!

Normalise dumping your therapist if they aren’t serving you. I’ve gone through a few in my time (yes I’m a therapy whore. Screw nudes, show me your therapy receipts) and it’s only when I’m in a “better” place do I look back and realise how vulnerable you are to “advice” form a professional when you’re struggling mentally.

Can you beat these corkers? 🥰 PSA: this is not an ask for dating tips, thx 💋
