First, I made it a GOAL. Without a goal, I have no plan. Without a plan, I take no action. The first thing I did when I turned 70 in January was pick this October beach vacation. I need a date. I need a point in time to hold me accountable. I had 8 months to train my glutes with focus. I trained them twice a week, but I didn't change my training schedule. I still trained just 4 days a week for an hour. What changed was my intensity. I trained with more focus, pushed a little harder, and lifted a little heavier. I stay somewhat lean all year, but not lean enough to wear a thong! So, 9 weeks out, I started eating leaner, but I still kept my 3 cheat meals a week. I was actually ready in about 7 weeks, so I had to start eating more, adding additional carbs and protein. Otherwise, I would have just ended up skinny. All my cardio is done at home on a Stair Climber before breakfast. Over those 9 weeks, I went from 20 minutes and 1,000 steps to 30 minutes and 2,500 steps by increasing the speed. I usually did the Stair Climber 5–6 days a week. And yes, we still had our 3 date nights a week! Can I do this again at 71? Well, I'm actually only about 3 months away, so I've already made another GOAL. I want to improve on what I did at 70. I started this week. A GOAL. A PLAN. A DATE. And a REASON to push myself. . . #IFBBPRO #Glutes #WeightTraining #FitnessMotivation #Bodybuilding
Your gut will thank you for this one. We all need more fibre in our diets, and one of my favourite ways to get it is through a warm, nourishing breakfast that actually feeds the beneficial bacteria living in our gut. What makes this porridge so good for digestion is the combination of different types of fibre. Rye flakes contain prebiotic fibres that our gut bacteria ferment to produce short-chain fatty acids like butyrate, which help nourish the cells lining our colon and support a healthy gut barrier. Chia seeds absorb liquid and form a gel-like consistency that helps support regular bowel movements, while also slowing digestion and helping maintain steadier blood sugar levels. And then there are the warming spices. Cinnamon contains polyphenols that may support a healthy gut microbiome, while cardamom has traditionally been used to support digestion. I personally don’t tolerate oats very well, even gluten-free ones, so rye flakes have become one of my favourite alternatives. Just remember that rye does contain gluten, so it isn’t suitable for everyone. Collagen is @withinusnatural !! Recipe in the caption 👇🏻
