Minister of Youth, Sports and Civic Action Pythagore Dumas has announced plans to build two modern stadiums meeting FIFA standards one in the Grand Nord and one in the Grand Sud so Haiti’s national teams can finally host home matches on Haitian soil. The projects are included in the 2026-2027 budget, alongside funding for the rehabilitation of several existing sports parks.⁠ ⁠ Speaking at a Primature press conference in mid-October 2026, Dumas outlined the dual approach: major new facilities plus upgrades to existing ones. In the South, the planned stadium targets the Parc Larco (also referred to in reports as Parc Land des Gabions) site in Les Cayes. A long-standing land dispute with the Léger family has reportedly been resolved through an agreement in which the family will cede the land to the state, with involvement from Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé. Dumas and Director General Wilfince Mombrun conducted inspection visits there in early October; the ministry is advancing a feasibility study, and the vision is for modern construction rather than simple renovation. Les Cayes offers practical advantages, including proximity to Antoine-Simon International Airport.⁠ ⁠ In the North, the government is advancing a parallel major stadium project. Dumas has referenced available land near Cap-Haïtien and the importance of sites near airports to meet FIFA requirements for access, hotels, and infrastructure.
