Chanelle Pickett was a 23-year-old trans woman from New York, who was m*rdered outside Boston in 1995. her killer was convicted of assault and battery and served only two years in prison. her death would go on to play a role in the creation of Transgender Day of Remembrance.

the portrait is made from pages of Harry Potter books. the author has a well documented history of using her enormous platform to spread misinformation about transgender people, under the guise of being "pro-women."

this project seeks to provide healing to multiple generations of queer readers who found refuge in a magical world, only to have it tainted by the author's dangerous and harmful actions.

prints will be available next week. 20% of the proceeds from the sale of this print will go to the LGBTQ+ Bar Association, who among many other things, is leading the charge to ban the LGBTQ+ "panic" defense.

Long before refrigerators became a household essential, people in Finland reportedly used a rather unusual trick to keep their milk from spoiling: placing a live brown frog directly into it! 🐸🥛

As strange as it sounds, this traditional practice may have had a scientific explanation.

Researchers later discovered that the skin of certain frogs naturally produces antimicrobial peptides, which are substances capable of inhibiting the growth of some bacteria and microorganisms.

These natural compounds help protect frogs against harmful microbes in their environment and may explain why people once believed the practice could keep milk fresh for longer.

Although the method might seem bizarre by today's standards, it offers a fascinating glimpse into how people experimented with food preservation long before modern refrigeration existed.

However, putting a frog in milk is not a safe or recommended preservation method today, as frogs can also carry harmful microorganisms.

Sometimes, the most unusual traditions have surprising connections to science! 🐸✨
