Cowboy, Happy 23rd Birthday… but it’s not. You were meant to be 23 today, but you’re not. I’m 22 now but you will always be 21. Today dad and I went to the Hermon and har dov to make food for the soldiers. I saw snow. Remember when we planned to go to the Hermon for a weekend. We went through the Golan Heights. That’s where you wanted to live. Build a house with a heard of sheep and a family. Remember? I told dad all about it. We barbecued meat and steak for all the soldiers. You loved steak. I remember you telling me how to season and cook it properly. Today You’d be telling me I was doing it all wrong. I told your story to anyone that would listen. I had you with me the whole day. In my heart and soul. You kept us safe. At random moments throughout the day I’d see something that would make me think of you like a sheep you’d probably have or green כומתות. It hurts that you’re not here with me. That you’re not able to come do barbecues for soldiers or even just cooking us a steak dinner. I think if you and my heart is whole yet broken. I still can’t figure it out. Your second birthday without you. More milestones with you. Everything I do is in your name and memory not in your arms. A part of me is always with you and a part of you is always with me. You keep me safe. You made me happy. You watch me from above and make sure I stay happy. I miss you. Your laugh, your jokes. Your hugs that solved all the problems. Your kisses that melted me from the inside out. Your presence that let me know I’m safe.
