Should you tell your parents how much you earn? There’s a case for yes. They raised you, supported you, and may have every reason to know. But there’s another side. Once they know your salary, expectations can change - a bigger house, a car, a trip, a higher contribution at home. So instead of telling them exactly how much you earn, you could tell them what your money can do for them. “I can contribute ₹X towards the house.” “I can afford this trip.” “I can cover this EMI.” Tell them what your money can do, not necessarily how much you make. A counterpoint of view - do you agree?

This 2014 political cartoon highlights growing concerns in the United States over homelessness, suicide, and untreated post-traumatic stress disorder among military veterans returning from wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. By the early 2010s, reports from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs revealed that thousands of veterans were experiencing homelessness each night, while rising awareness of veteran suicide sparked national discussions and efforts to improve mental health care. PTSD, traumatic brain injuries, substance abuse, and the challenges of adjusting to civilian life were increasingly recognized as lasting consequences of military service following September 11, 2001. The cartoon also references the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery, a memorial established in 1921 to honor unidentified American service members who died in war. The imagery draws attention to the contrast between honoring fallen soldiers and caring for veterans who return home.
