a year agoSorry I have contrary opinion. The first commandment God gave to man was leadership he said be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth, subdue it, have Dominion. All these are leadership terms to the entire human race.. Even at the end we all will reign with Christ as kings and Priests, this is also leadership. I believe discipleship should not be placed side to side with leadership because discipleship is a way to leadership that God has called us to, the difference is just that the capacity of our leadership differs. In essence discipleship is also a breakout of the ultimate goal of becoming a leader. Thank you sir.
2 years agoI read a practical book called “Liberating the Laity” that talks about just this- that churches have organized themselves around paid “professional” ministers while the rest of the people do (and are expected to do) little to nothing. The priesthood of believers, the pouring out of God’s Spirit on ALL believers is totally neglected. Sometimes I think though, it’s we, leaders, who propagate this error by overworking (especially in prominent roles) and gatekeeping and not empowering nor equipping. We have to learn to lay down even where we are supremely gifted so others may use and develop their gifts given for the Body.
