primetime is opening today in the UK 🇬🇧 ! they say you must kill your darlings at some point… and here’s a darling that hurt to let go. I really loved this title sequence that @dsgarber, @teddyblanks and I made for the movie, and here it is now, in all its glory. thank you to the best cast and crew in the planet that made this movie happen. and if you’re in the US, the movie is still playing in select theaters!
Halloween Night
Iranian security forces and plainclothes officers broke up a Halloween gathering in central Tehran on Friday evening, beating and detaining people and forcing nearby cafes to close, witnesses and sources told Iran International. Young people wearing Halloween costumes and makeup had gathered on Iranshahr Street, a popular area for cafes and cultural activities near Tehran's Artists Park (Park Honarmandan), when traffic police and local police officers blocked the road, according to sources familiar with the incident. Members of the Basij, a paramilitary force affiliated with Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and plainclothes security personnel then moved in to disperse the crowd. An eyewitness said the operation extended beyond those celebrating Halloween, with families spending the evening in Artists Park also ordered to leave. "It was like the protests. They were running after people and shouting, 'Disperse!'" the witness told Iran International.
American universities have spent centuries accumulating donations from wealthy alumni, industrialists, and philanthropists, then investing that money to generate even more wealth. During the Gilded Age, fortunes made in steel, oil, and railroads helped transform American higher education. After WW2, massive federal research funding helped turn universities into global centers of science and technology. Beginning in the 1980s, elite universities also became sophisticated investors, putting their endowments into stocks, private equity, venture capital, and real estate. By 2025, Harvard, Yale, Stanford, and Princeton collectively held approximately $177 billion in endowments. These institutions typically spend around 4–5% annually, allowing much of the remaining money to continue growing.
