Ava DuVernay is questioning Hollywood’s future while revealing that her latest documentary helped her navigate a deeply emotional period.

During a Screen Talk at the BFI London Film Festival on Monday, October 12, the acclaimed filmmaker spoke candidly about the entertainment industry’s shake-up and the personal toll of making Netflix’s “14th.”

“Hollywood is over,” DuVernay declared. “Did you guys hear? It’s done. They’re buying each other, they’re collapsing. It’s all changed. They’re selling studio lots. The idea of going to Sundance and getting a three-picture deal from Harvey Weinstein? He’s in prison.”

Rather than waiting for major studios, she encouraged filmmakers to explore crowdfunding and direct financial support from audiences. “This is what we’re going back to,” she said, highlighting smaller investments and alternative distribution routes.

DuVernay also addressed her political documentary, which examines the Fourteenth Amendment and connects its history to the Trump administration’s efforts to restrict birthright citizenship. She described the film as exploring “how we got to a place where MAGA can be in power.”

“This film saved me in a lot of ways. … The rage that I feel and the fear that I feel, I was really being able to pour it into *14th* every day. I only finished the film two weeks ago, and so I really don’t know what I’m going to do from here.”

“History is the key,” she said, recalling the resilience of previous generations as a reason to remain hopeful despite current fears and growing political uncertainty across the country.

Zelenskiy o‘rniga nomzodlar

Zelenskiyning o‘rniga kim prezident bo‘lishi mumkin? Ukrainada to‘rt siyosatchining nomi tilga olinmoqda.

AQSh prezidenti Donald Tramp Ukrainada yangi prezident saylovi o‘tkazilishi kerakligini aytganidan so‘ng, mamlakatning kelajakdagi rahbari kim bo‘lishi mumkinligi haqidagi muhokamalar kuchaydi.

Newsweek nashri Zelenskiyning o‘rnini egallashi mumkin bo‘lgan to‘rt siyosatchini sanab o‘tdi.

Birinchisi — Ukraina armiyasining sobiq bosh qo‘mondoni, hozirda Buyuk Britaniyadagi elchi Valeriy Zalujniy.
Ikkinchisi — harbiy razvedkaning sobiq rahbari, prezident administratsiyasi boshlig‘i Kirill Budanov.
Uchinchi ehtimoliy nomzod — sobiq mudofaa vaziri Mixail Fyodorov.
To‘rtinchisi esa 2014–2019-yillarda Ukrainani boshqargan sobiq prezident Pyotr Poroshenko.

Ma’lumot uchun Ukrainaning Rating Group tashkiloti oktabr oyida o‘tkazgan so‘rovda respondentlarning 22,9 foizi Zelenskiyga, 20,2 foizi esa Zalujniyga ovoz berishini bildirgan.

Biroq hozircha saylov sanasi belgilanmagan. Zelenskiy Rossiya 60 kunlik sulhga rozi bo‘lsa, saylov o‘tkazishga tayyorligini ma’lum qilgan.
