It’s a wrap! 🔥 After six years, my new feature documentary, A Girl Like Rose, is complete! I’ve put everything I have into this film, investing my time, money and energy so I could keep the production fully independent and give the story the time and attention it deserves. Given the sensitivity of the subject, I’ve deliberately kept the production under the radar for so long. Rose and her family have welcomed me into their lives throughout those six years, and their trust has brought me closer than a camera ever could on its own. I’m deeply grateful for that openness, even when life was painful, and for the journey we’ve shared. ❤️ What has come out of this makes me so proud: a raw and intimate family portrait of the bond between a mother and daughter who love each other so deeply, yet are driven apart by addiction. How far would you go to save your mother, and when do you let go, if that’s even possible? With this film, I hope once again to move people and encourage them to look beyond their preconceptions about family relationships, addiction, the fashion world and all the worlds they think they know. If there’s one thing I’ve learnt over the past six years, it’s that we don’t help each other by judging before we’ve taken the time to understand one another. It was an absolute joy to work with my creative partner and editor, Bastiaan Brand, once again and bring this film together in the edit. I can’t wait to bring A Girl Like Rose to cinemas in 2027 and finally share this story with you when the lights go down. To be continued…🙏🏼 #Film #AGirlLikeRose #NewWork #Documentary #BreakTheStigma
