Today was the final today of operation for the Seminole Towne Center mall, in Sanford, FL, and I just knew I had to come out and wish it a goodbye,
It opened nearly 30 years ago, in the fall of 1995, but has faced a rough decade. With steady competition from the nearby malls, new owners as frequent as the stores leaving, and the hard post-COVID economy, this mall has been doomed for a long time.
But it’s hard to not notice its beauty, with some of the nicest looking exteriors I’ve ever seen on a mall, and a beautiful neon-lit interior that puts Starcourt Mall to shame. The last few stores were packing up their things, preparing to find a new home, while the big box stores don’t have to suffer the same fate.
While I don’t have as big of a connection to this mall as some, I will always appreciate its design and what it meant to the locals of Sanford. I have a larger video coming out here soon, which will go through the mall’s history and show off the large amount of footage I captured today.
Goodbye, Seminole Towne Center. Sad you couldn’t make it to 30, but hey, that Costco sure will be nice!
