As a gay Republican, being gay was never about adopting an entire political ideology. For me, it was about having the freedom to live openly, love who I love, and be treated equally under the law.

Over time, I feel like the LGBTQIA+ movement has expanded far beyond the original fight for gay and lesbian equality. What was once centered on equal treatment has increasingly become wrapped up in ever-growing labels, pronouns, gender-identity debates, corporate Pride campaigns, and partisan politics.

I don’t need corporations speaking for me, and I don’t need the Democratic Party treating my sexuality as a reason I should automatically support them. Democrats can advocate for policies they believe benefit LGBTQ+ Americans, but being gay doesn’t mean we all have the same political beliefs.

I’m gay. I’m a Republican. And neither one cancels out the other.

I’m proud of who I am and who I love, but my sexuality doesn’t dictate how I think, what I believe, or how I vote. I want to live my life freely, love who I choose, and make my own political decisions without being treated like a political prop.

Defense attorneys challenged those tactics, arguing the FBI created scenarios designed to get the young men to commit crimes. One attorney told the agent, "Your purpose was to set these kids up and get them to commit a crime."
The five defendants who appeared Tuesday were Darrell Sampson, Jocquez Frye, Jacob Barrett, Kristian Winters and Jaquan McClendon. They are either still in high school or recently graduated. he FBI agent testified that the investigation began this past spring.
Law enforcement sources previously told KHOU 11 that YNS is known to carry out crimes and then post rap videos to social media in which members allegedly brag about criminal behavior.
The agent testified that investigators reviewed music videos and Instagram photos that allegedly showed defendants holding guns and talking about shooting people. He also described content that allegedly showed people dancing on someone's gravestone and mocking the person's death.
Defense attorneys questioned whether social media posts could be relied upon as evidence of actual criminal activity, pointing to artificial intelligence and arguing that online boasting can be fabricated or exaggerated.
The FBI then used a confidential source with ties to the music industry to connect with the suspects under the premise of going to a studio together, according to the agent's testimony.
During those meetings, the agent said members of the group allegedly discussed selling illegal guns and robbing cartel members of drugs, weapons and money. Investigators then created fake scenarios, including bait vehicles and a stash house, while recording interactions through video and audio surveillance.
The operation culminated last week with a staged robbery scenario in which federal authorities arrested suspects.
Defense attorneys argued Tuesday that the FBI's tactics amounted to setting up the defendants. One attorney also pointed out that there were no actual victims in the scenarios created by investigators.
A judge is now considering whether the five defendants should remain detained or be placed on house arrest while their cases proceed. Via @htx.drill2

Our Legends issue cover star opened about the unlikely bond she formed on the set of @nbc's 'The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins,' and clearly, the feeling is mutual.

"I was on that set, calling that man Harry Potter all day. Daniel made me feel so, so, so comfortable. We were literally talking and joking the whole time."
