As I sat down to write this, I struggled to find the right structure and flow—how could I possibly capture the essence of my dad’s life and the profound impact he had on so many people? Summarizing 59 years of love, resilience, and influence in mere words feels almost impossible.
For those who may not know, my father, Brian Justin McCloskey, passed away on the morning of Friday, January 31st, 2025. He spent his final days at home, surrounded by family and enveloped in love. For nearly a decade, he waged a relentless battle against advanced prostate cancer—a fight he met with unwavering strength and resilience. Despite the grueling treatments, he remained in peak physical shape, rarely letting on just how much he was enduring. His determination to find a cure was nothing short of extraordinary, a testament to his unbreakable spirit.
Amid his relentless battle with this devastating disease, my dad co-founded a nonprofit called Cancer Patient Lab. Its mission was to revolutionize the way cancer patients personalize their treatments, empowering them with the best possible chance of survival. By harnessing the vast potential of data, Cancer Patient Lab explored every avenue of cancer treatment, tailoring therapies to each patient’s unique genetic makeup. This groundbreaking approach aimed to redefine the standard of care, offering hope to those facing one of life’s toughest challenges.
He was an extraordinary husband, a devoted son, and the most incredible father. His love, wisdom, and strength shaped our lives in ways that words can hardly express. Though he is no longer physically with us, his spirit will live on through Jack, Grace, and me—in the lessons he taught us, the love he gave us, and the values he instilled in us. His legacy is woven into who we are and who we will become.
I love you more than words can say, Dad. You will always be with us.

Shine on, benevolent sun
Shine down upon the broken
Shine until the two become one”
