233 years ago today, marie antoinette was guillotined.

marie antoinette was the last queen of france before the french revolution, she was executed by guillotine at the age of 37 on october 16, 1793.

born in austria, she married the future king louis xvi at 14 years old and became queen of france at 18. known for her extravagant lifestyle, expensive fashion, and lavish spending, she became a symbol of the french monarchy’s excess while millions of french citizens struggled with poverty and hunger.

following the french revolution, the monarchy was abolished, and her husband, king louis xvi, was executed in january 1793. nine months later, marie antoinette was convicted of treason and sentenced to death.

one of the most famous stories surrounding her is the phrase “let them eat cake,” supposedly said in response to starving citizens having no bread. however, historians widely agree there is no evidence she ever said it.

Myktybek Orolbai’s father shared a heartfelt message for his son, expressing how proud he is of him and the honour he has brought to their family and people.

“May God always bless you with happy and joyful days, my son. Keep making us proud. Always remain a son of your people.

‘A good son brings honor to his father, and a good horse brings honor to its people.’

Thank God, my son has done well. He has made my name known around the world. That makes me incredibly proud. May God bless you, my son. Stay safe and live in peace.”

Thank you to #yagp and Miss Larissa for giving Sylvie Win this opportunity- what a week of classes, rehearsals, and choreography. For a young dancer who so loves learning her art, being challenged, and growing, this is a dream. These are the experiences that have a huge impact on a young dancer’s journey. Sylvie Win’s growth alone and appreciation for all those around her have grown in these days. We are very grateful. The people and organizations that will invest in young artists and truly help them develop can be rare to find. We feel very fortunate.
