Title: Overflowingly Black

By Artist: Brea Mcfrazier Walters (b.llusion)

Artist statement: “Overflowingly Black” is a visual tribute to the boundless depth, resilience, and beauty of Black identity. This piece intentionally immerses the viewer in a rich tapestry of blackness. The subtle silhouettes of proud Black figures are not hidden but integrated into the fabric of the composition, symbolizing how Black identity is both rooted in history and woven into the present. Accents of gold and deep indigo highlight the sacredness and strength within, reflecting the unbreakable spirit that has persisted through generations.

Flowing through the piece are abstract patterns inspired by African textiles and ancestral symbols. They represent the continuous thread of culture, knowledge, and memory that connects the African diaspora across time and space.
