HAPPY BLACK HISTORY MONTH to my black Kings and Queens✊🏽✊🏿✊🏾💫

The event was very timely.

At certain points this year and more specifically the last few days prior to the event, I’ve really felt the heaviness of being a black woman in today’s world.

Being a black woman is a blessing and I would choose it in every lifetime

-but it comes with struggles that no one would ever be able to understand or comprehend if they weren’t in the same shoes us, especially in this space.

Micro-aggressions in the workplace, being treated differently to our non black counterparts, being mis-labelled “intimidating”, “scary”, having a lower threshold for compassion and empathy from others, people deciding “what we are”, even before experiencing us, is a DAILY struggle.

And it gets heavy, but all of that could never cloud my JOY and APPRECIATION for my culture, for my heritage and for my people. EVER.

And to all my black brothers and sisters, the media might not represent us, brands might not, the algorithm might not but that shouldn’t stop us from being LOUD & PROUD of our BLACKNESS💫
