HBD QUEE

In Chhatarpur and Panna, Madhya Pradesh, Adivasi protesters fighting to protect their Jal, Jangal, Zameen against the Ken-Betwa Link Project, the Majhgaon Medium Irrigation Project and other projects are facing serious criminal charges, including attempt to murder.

Protesters allege that the FIR filed by MP Police is false and point to videos recorded between 3 PM and 5 PM on September 28 that they say contradict the police’s version of events.

Of the 13 arrested protesters, 12 have been released, but 24-year-old Dalit Adivasi rights activist Divya Ahirwar remains in jail for 17 days. She had shared the stage with Rahul Gandhi in August.

Why is Divya still behind bars? Why are those fighting for Adivasi rights being criminalised?

The actions of MP Police in Panna and Chhatarpur deserve public scrutiny. Justice for Divya Ahirwar!

Disclaimer: This is Part 1 of the video. Part 2 will be uploaded soon, examining the other allegedly false charges under which the FIR was filed against the Adivasi protesters.

I get asked all the time how Abby became so capable. How she figured out her crutches. How she’s made the progress she has with her mobility, motor planning and skills.

And while I will scream from the rooftops that you need to let go of comparison completely and celebrate your kids exactly where they are, my answer almost every single time is to just give them the chance to figure it out.

Abby has ataxic cerebral palsy, which affects her balance, coordination, and causes low muscle tone. Things that might come easily to someone else can take her extra time, effort, and a whole lot of trial and error.

This was her first ride of the day and the carousel horse she picked was too high off the ground. It would have been SO much faster if I had just lifted her up or made her to choose a lower horse. But she wanted to do it herself and there was no reason she couldn’t have the time and space to try.

That’s something I’ve learned over and over again from her. That the best thing I can do is step back and give her the space to work through something in her own way. Sometimes that means I eventually offer to help and sometimes she’ll take it. Most of the time she politely declines and I love her for that! 😅

And truly hear me when I say that every child is different. Progress looks different for every kid and there is absolutely no timeline they need to follow. Celebrate the little things, the big things, and everything in between.

But truly the most helpful thing I started to do is resist the urge to make everything easier or happen faster and just give her the opportunity to surprise herself 🥹🥲💪🏼✨

People expect a Moroccan girl
to keep to herself in crowds.

They see you offering something sweet
and think it means too much.
Or that you are trying to be noticed.

Growing up in Morocco,
you never eat something
without offering it around first.

It is just basic kindness.
It does not disappear in a crowd.

Living here taught me
I can keep that warmth
without worrying about what looks proper.
