WELCOME BACK, 4!!!!

Suspected Turkish agent Omer Güney was spotted at the scene of the crime following the shooting of three female Kurdish militants in Paris in January 2013.

Sakine Cansiz was the co-founder of the Marxist-Leninist Kurdistan Workers’ Party, known as the PKK, alongside Abdullah Ocalan. Fidan Dogan acted as a PKK lobbyist and Leyla Soylemez was a member of the youth wing. Since 1984, the PKK has fought an insurgency campaign inside of Turkey with 30,000+ total killed. It has been declared a terror group by Turkey, the United States, and the European Union.

Güney arrived in Paris in 2011 after spending several years in Germany and quickly ingratiated himself with the local Kurdish expat community. He’d first arrived in France at age nine and spoke perfect French, which soon made him indispensable to the community. He even served as a driver to Cansiz immediately prior to her murder.

All three women were shot to death inside the Kurdish Information Center in Paris on the morning of January 10th. The day before the killings, Güney entered the Kurdish Information Center in the suburbs north of Paris and photographed files pertaining to 329 members of the community. He later deleted the photos from his phone, but they were recovered by forensic investigators. Surveillance footage showed Güney arriving and leaving the center that night, and gunpowder residue and DNA from one of the victims was found on his clothing.

Investigators began focusing on suspected links to Turkey’s MIT intelligence agency, particularly after learning Güney had traveled back to Turkey three times in late 2012, just weeks before the murders. He also described himself as a “gray wolf” (right-wing Turkish paramilitary) to friends back in Germany.

In December 2016, while awaiting trial in France as the only suspect in the murders, Güney passed away from a brain tumor. Despite his death, the case was reopened in 2019, but no clear links to the Turkish government have yet been proven or announced.
