I am beyond grateful for all the birthday messages! Life is complicated, and it goes without saying, so am I. I got to spend my 51st birthday with those I love most, and who support me on this crapshoot of a journey (with the exception of those who couldn’t make it). I carried my partner in crime around with most of the weekend since it was just easier than putting him down and letting him knock stuff off walls, or simply crying like a toddler to be picked up. It was nice. 🥰
I also had an MRI day after, which revealed more complicated stuff. It may be time to make some different cancer care choices in the near future, since watch and wait may be coming to an end. I had a little seizure in the room, just before we were leaving. Stress is such a trigger, and the meds just can’t be trusted since I have developed allergies to most of them. There is a brain implant which can be done, but that entails many more tests and another craniotomy. Proton radiation is another option, followed by one full year of chemotherapy. A few frightening options! I’m just trying to get past epilepsy and lichen sclerosus. Unfortunately, both are part of having brain cancer and a host of auto immune issues now.
In closing, I’ve had a lot of time to reflect, and I know this to be true in my gut. Those who truly love you and/or have your back are the ones who support your cause, (or at least try to understand why you are who you are). Ratward wins! #iykyk
