Happy Siblings Day, Bertha. You have been my lifelong best friend for as long as we’ve been alive, no matter how close we actually were. Thank you for being you and true to us. #1991 #sisters #sissymelissa by @mariannebird

What’s going on in my current little world is the amazing book, written by my dear friend, James. What I didn’t understand or have an inkling of is shared in this raw and heartfelt real life book. Definitely get your hands on this one!

Today was Week 2/6, Day 3 of radiation treatment. I was debating about posting on social media over the last several months because I hate being a downer. But I also know I should be honest with myself, and I want to share what is happening on our end.
My seizures have become uncontrolled by medication over the past year, part of which has been determined to be caused by Larry growing larger in my left temporal lobe. Honestly, I almost opted for a lobotomy, but decided to try this last option before I let the docs tinker around up there again. I decided for 6 weeks of 5 days per week of radiation therapy, followed by one year of chemo.

Radiation is kinda easy when I am lying on the machine. The team keeps my head ultra still by placing a mask over my face and buttoning me down. It’s weirdly comforting. I get to hold a foam ring, just for fidgets like me to stay cozy. Then, I even get a warm blanket! They play music I don’t want to hear, but I only lay there for about 5 minutes each day. I’m really tired afterward, and my brain fog is intense. Currently, I am anxious and my memory is beginning to suffer. Good news is the memory is mostly short term loss, so I’ll leave the stove on, or forget to eat all day, but I will ALWAYS remember lyrics to just about every song I love (pre-2019). My hair hasn’t started to fall out yet, and I’ve been wearing a hat outside hoping to keep some of it. Last I had a seizure was on Sunday, so we’ll see if this treatment to shrink the tumor (Larry), is actually going to help.

I miss driving, hiking, live music on the rail, being goofy with my friends, picking.
*I do not miss drinking!*

The staff at UW is incredible, and they could not be cooler!
Thank you to my wonderful friends and family who have offered to help. I am still trying to figure out how to get to UW and back on a few days in May, so I’ll message you directly if you would like to help. Just comment and let me know, please! ♥️

I will begin chemotherapy after this 6 week radiation treatment, which lasts for one year. That one is in pill form, thankfully!
Stay tuned for more. ♥️

I am beyond grateful for all the birthday messages! Life is complicated, and it goes without saying, so am I. I got to spend my 51st birthday with those I love most, and who support me on this crapshoot of a journey (with the exception of those who couldn’t make it). I carried my partner in crime around with most of the weekend since it was just easier than putting him down and letting him knock stuff off walls, or simply crying like a toddler to be picked up. It was nice. 🥰
I also had an MRI day after, which revealed more complicated stuff. It may be time to make some different cancer care choices in the near future, since watch and wait may be coming to an end. I had a little seizure in the room, just before we were leaving. Stress is such a trigger, and the meds just can’t be trusted since I have developed allergies to most of them. There is a brain implant which can be done, but that entails many more tests and another craniotomy. Proton radiation is another option, followed by one full year of chemotherapy. A few frightening options! I’m just trying to get past epilepsy and lichen sclerosus. Unfortunately, both are part of having brain cancer and a host of auto immune issues now.
In closing, I’ve had a lot of time to reflect, and I know this to be true in my gut. Those who truly love you and/or have your back are the ones who support your cause, (or at least try to understand why you are who you are). Ratward wins! #iykyk by @mariannebird

I love when our resident Anna’s hummingbird posts up on his turf. He only lets females enter his lair, our sphynx cat included. #windowkitty

We went to JC Penny to have these pics done, which was a much needed morale booster for our family. It was fun, and I think they turned out nice! Tis the season for onesies and naked cats. by @mariannebird

This human had a birthday on December 12th, so here’s a photo dump o’ love. He makes me crazy, and he keeps me sane. Here’s to all the rest of the years we have! I love you endlessly, @milo43 ♥️

Today, we celebrate Toad!

She was found abandoned at an apartment complex, where she was being fed by the residents. Without success, we tried to find her home. We have not found anyone to adopt her, so here we are. John has decided she and he are inseparable.

Sadly, Toad has tested positive for HCM, which is an incurable heart condition that affects certain breeds, including sphynx. She will live out her life with us, where she will receive proper vet care.

Welcome to the world of rescue!
