From Haast to Wanaka, the landscape changed drastically. From the rainforest to a dry steppe, this is the land of the big lakes, the heart of Middle-earth.
I hiked Roys Peak at sunset and made my way back in the dark.
The following day, I visited Queenstown and Glenorchy, then drove to Kingston by Lake Wakatipu before finally reaching Te Anau.
The next day, Milford Sound took my breath away, leaving me in awe for the next two days, which led me to Dunedin and its stunning peninsula. Finally, I ended my journey at Lakes Pukaki and Tekapo.
