Memphis Launches Innovate Xcelerate to Empower Diverse Entrepreneurs
Memphis’ entrepreneurial landscape is getting a major boost with Innovate Xcelerate, a new program designed to cultivate a diverse pipeline of innovative business owners. Spearheaded by Epicenter, the city’s startup hub, the initiative offers funding, mentorship, corporate connections, and essential resources to help entrepreneurs thrive—not just survive.
“We realized that Memphis has undervalued the talent in many of our communities, and Innovate Xcelerate is designed to apply those lessons,” said Choya Johnson, Epicenter’s entrepreneurial programs specialist.
Backed by a $380,000 grant from the MassMutual Foundation, the two-year program kicked off on February 7 with a design thinking workshop. Up next: a Hackathon (March 7–9) led by CodeCrew, known for training underrepresented tech talent.
