Excerpt from my essay. Read the full article on Substack. Ted K asserts the reason why no one rebels against debt slavery is because our values have been inverted to align with the artificial world through surrogate activities. “it is not surprising that modern society is full of surrogate activities. These include scientific work, athletic achievement, humanitarian work, artistic and literary creation, climbing the corporate ladder, acquisition of money and material goods far beyond the point at which they cease to give any additional physical satisfaction.” Therefore, “most people are not in a position to pursue their goals autonomously.” The “system’s neatest trick” is to convince you to serve its expansion at the detriment to your own goals. You sacrifice your personal autonomy and believe this a radical freedom. It is the archetypal deal with the devil: surrender yourself to technology and, in return, you are promised an unending utopia of civilizational advancement. You happily consent. In exchange your people are uprooted from their lands, ethnically cleansed through mixing, and their civilization declines. Yet rather than admit you have been cheated, you herald this new age of decline as “progress.” Evola refers to this age as “the Kali Yuga”. He asserts that we have inverted our values to prize the economic surrogate activity beyond any concept of personal excellence, civilizational superiority, or folk unity. He writes: “The distinctive trait of Americanism is that the attack on quality and personality is not accomplished by means of the brutal coercion of a Marxist dictatorship and the care of the state, but takes place almost spontaneously, by means of a civilization that does not recognize ideals higher than wealth, consumption, profit, and unchecked economic growth”. Modern man has virtually no comprehension of his conquest by the Antichrist. He willingly participates in his own dissolution, experiencing every sacrifice as a virtue pursued for his own benefit. The bargain therefore requires no coercion: the conquered man becomes its most enthusiastic defender. Every step into decline is experienced as another triumph of “progress.”
