One of the unresolved questions of our history is undoubtedly the annulment of the June 12 Presidential Election by the President Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida military junta in circumstances that created wounds that have taken almost forever to heal.

With the posthumous recognition of Chief MKO Abiola as the undisputed winner of that election and consquent conferment with the highest national honour reserved for Presidents by the Muhammadu Buhari administration, the country inched towards a closure.

However, with his recently launched Autobiography - A Journey In Service, it is gratifying that one of the major role actors of that incident, General Ibrahim Babangida has come out to take full responsibility for the events that shaped that outcome and rued the decisions not taken.

This, in my view is a bold steps towards achieving a final closure to the June 12 mishap and forever lay its ghost to rest. I want to commend the Author for having the courage to make peace with History and further soothe the wound of a Nation that has struggled to recover from that incident.

I look forward to reading the Book and drawing from the many lessons it leaves behind for young and emerging leaders like myself, one of which I think is the painful acknowledgment that even the greatest of leaders do make mistakes of generational implication.
