This past weekend I had the opportunity to attend the @collegiatepress conference in Long Beach, California.

MNTV won 6th place in the Best of Show - Broadcast News Program category for our 2024 Election Day Live Show, during the Associated Collegiate Press awards.

Plus three of my reporters took home awards for their stories. Two of them won awards for Best of Show - Broadcast Feature Story, and one of them won Best of Show - Broadcast Sports Story.

I am immensely thankful to @calpolyjournalism and @cpmustangnews for allowing me to come to this conference as it is my last ever ACP conference I will attend as a student journalist.

I am so proud of the Mustang News TV team and so grateful to manage such an outstanding team!

Awesome cassandra!

I will remember this generation as the one that taught me the most about courage. What’s happening right now is people remembering that they have agency, power and all the damn right in the world to question a broken education system.

Systems are made to serve us, a huge percentage of whom are our students, who have felt wildly dissatisfied for good reason and for a while. It’s time they were heard and why wouldn’t we, why shouldn’t we? This country and the future of its kids are not mutually exclusive.

Movements don’t have to be perfect. They have to mobilise so that people who are grieving can be brought justice. This grief cuts across generations: the parents who worry about whether their kids are going to be alright, and the kids who have suffered enough to come out in the numbers that they have.

Yeh kitna clear hai. You are wasting time arguing the specifics. Look at the bigger picture. Speak for the students or at least pass the mic. They are angry and they want a resolution. Simple.

Also, can we take a moment to appreciate how they are leading this movement! Kya talented desh hai humara yaar - the art, the music, the writing and THE MEMES. How they’ve managed to turn dissent into art while simultaneously healing previous generations needs to be studied. This account is a GenZ stan account fr.

Who would’ve ever guessed that a call to shovel snow led us to a 120-year-old abandoned train car rotting in our neighbors barn…?! And today- the one and only @trainstays 🙌🏼

My dad @northwest_restoration deserves the credit for insisting we buy this, even when my brothers and I thought he was crazy 😂. My mom @frenchhandcraft deserves the credit for her immaculate eye for vintage decor. She sourced and arranged most of the furnishings from antique stores. My brother @davidnfrench_ deserves the credit for running it today, along with the train depot & caboose we also restored in our tiny town. Come visit us - we’d love to host you!
