LOVED HAVING YOU!

To keep growing as an artist, to keep trying new shapes, and stretching my eye, I need to be inspired by other mediums. Art and fashion are my favorite. I spent years exploring flea markets and vintage clothing sales admiring clothing between the 1800s and the 80s. Maybe even the 90s these days. New York City does this for me. The museums, the restaurants, the tiny little Malaysian beef jerky counter. We rode bikes across the bridge, I went and saw my dear friend that makes the dreamiest high waisted French cut jeans @judirosennewyork ❤️ I used to get off the plane 20 years ago and runs straight to her boutique to treat myself to something new every year. But I can say for 28 years going Strong I’ve come to New York to get my inspiration every single year. And it’s worth every penny because I come home to see my clients inspired flying high with shapes, fashion, and excitement to move in a new direction with them.
My career has taken me in a direction that is the most exciting yet. I teach hairstylist from all over the world, my unique razor cutting technique. The razor is a tool, and we all use it differently. Mine to carve petals into the hair which creates separation flips and kicks and shapes that grow out seamlessly. It’s that piecey-ness you always wanted from a textured haircut. The stylists were quite surprised that did their own live model at how different my technique actually is. It was wonderful to see them grow as artists and their eyes to light up as the haircuts came together beautifully. I worked with them heart-to-heart, encouraging them to go further and trust the process. It can seem a little bit wild what I do while it’s happening, but the results are absolutely beautiful.
I am so honored that rooms of hairstylist. Call me their mentor and I’ve seen so much in the last 33 years, I have an encyclopedia of knowledge and styles inside of me to share.
This video could’ve been 10 minutes long with everything I did while I was there, but I can say thank you to my business partner Chri who was there by my side helping teach the stylists something completely new. What an honor it was for both of us.
See you next time stylists! Xo
