Was able to get outside and climb today as a birthday treat to myself. Decided to check out this sweet little boulder at Salt Fork that @ray_climbs and @mikulbrownch cleaned and established. 3 fun moderates

The Best Toothpick Dispenser

I've wanted to try making a dispenser that releases one toothpick at a time when pressed.
Many designs use springs, but this one uses magnetic repulsion instead.
The hardest part was positioning the small piece that pushes the toothpicks upward. I wasn't sure exactly where it should go, so I tested how it worked and found the right position through trial and error before gluing it in place.
One interesting discovery was that it dispenses toothpicks more consistently when there are a reasonable number of toothpicks inside rather than when it's nearly empty.
The mechanism may look complicated at first, but the basic design is surprisingly simple. If you like the idea, give it a try!
