I cannot endorse the Beretta 1301 as a duty or serious use platform.

For the last several years, the 1301 has been the golden child of the defensive shotgun world and the “cool guy” gun to run for training junkies. I have never understood it. Almost from day one, any time I have seen 1301s in class, they break. Ejection issues, ignition issues, spontaneous catastropic lock ups, I have seen them all. It is to the point that I ask students if they have a backup shotgun when they show up with one.

At the Thunderstick Summit this year, every single instructor reported serious issues with them that were not present in any other platform. The responses we’ve gotten from the manufacturer when voicing these concerns have been…less than ideal (ask @sentinelconcepts2.0). For context, the examples at Thunderstick were in the hands of very serious practitioners who pay far more attention to maintenance than most. I fully believe that agencies issuing them to patrol officers are asking for trouble, they simply do not hold up to any level of hard use or neglect the way an 870 or 590 will.

As a massive proponent of the shotgun as a force option for American law enforcement, I am not a fan.

Yesterday, I attended a private dinner as part of The Digital Asset Conference, hosted by Fasanara Capital (a $7.5 billion institutional asset manager) in partnership with WhiteBIT in London.

The summit brings together 400+ industry leaders, including representives of BlackRock, Barclays, Tether, Coinbase, Multicoin Capital and other major players in global finance and the digital asset ecosystem.

The conversation around crypto continues to evolve. Beyond individual assets and market cycles, the focus is increasingly shifting towards institutional adoption, liquidity, regulation and the infrastructure connecting digital assets with the global financial system. At W Group, we’re building for this future, connecting technology, financial infrastructure and millions of people worldwide.

Great to connect with so many industry leaders last night and exchange perspectives on the future of finance.
